We're here to help
Have a question, found a bug, or want to suggest a feature?
We'd love to hear from you.
Q. What file types can Reed open?
Plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), and EPUB (.epub). Open a file from the Files app or share it to Reed, and it's added to your library.
Q. A book shows "Not on this device" — what does that mean?
Your library syncs across devices via iCloud, but the actual book file lives on the device that imported it. If you open Reed on another device (or after reinstalling), the record is there but the file may not be. Tap the book and choose "Re-import file" to attach the original — your reading progress is kept.
Q. How do I sync my library across devices?
Reed uses your personal iCloud account. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID and that iCloud is enabled for Reed in iOS Settings.
Q. How do I remove ads?
Open Settings inside Reed and choose Remove Ads — a one-time in-app purchase that disables ads across all your devices using the same Apple ID.
Q. Can I change the font, theme, or text encoding?
Yes. Open a book and use the reader settings to adjust theme, font, margins, and page-turn style. For text files with garbled characters, switch the encoding in the reader to fix the display.
